Having chartered many times in the BVI's, St. Vincent & The Grenadines, and Grenada, we were surprised at the lack of information on chartering in Thailand. There was a book on board as well as great charts but nothing to prepare us ahead of time.
The boat was in great shape, the sailing grounds are breathtaking, all anchoring and not many other boats (besides long tails & tourist boats during the day). You need to be really good at navigation as Phang Nga Bay is SHALLOW and there are a lot fishing nets, barely submerged rocks, etc to be watchful of. Very safe and friendly but would definitely consider this an advanced area for cruising. Not much wind so the sailing wasn't advanced but the navigation and chart plotting as well as anchoring are for the more experienced sailor. The Hong's were awe inspiring, the limestone karsts were otherworldly, the scenery like nothing we had ever seen. Provisioning was difficult and we did not encounter any other places to stock up on anything but beer and drinks for our week long charter.
